Mike Sandejas' written, produced and directed Dinig Sana Kita showing till September 3 2009 at the Robinson's Indie Cine cinema took me to reflecting on a myriad of themes that affects society today, moreso my own life. It won Best Audience Award at the recently held Cinemalaya Awards. Bravo!
The movie tackles issues of the parent and kids of this ipod generation. Unlike most movies that offers the same theme, Mike takes it onto the platform of the non hearing, rarely been tackled on the big screen. This is special for me because I have a teener in the house who's plugged to the ipod 90% of the time and yes, I have thought about how it would affect his hearing. I have worked with the deaf since way back highschool at St. Theresa's College Quezon City, our teachers let us interact with deaf students who taught us abc in sign language. We also were exposed to the blind who taught us how to do braille.
Have to bring a hanky because through subtle images and music and silence, the movie will evoke your heart out up till the credits. I can't specify scenes lest I spoil the movie but do take time to watch it. You will definitely like it.
Thank you Mike, please make more movies because our society needs to see for themselves on big screen the things that are most valuable in life.
