Farewell. As you continue your journey towards the light, please bring my prayers and happy thoughts. I didn’t know that you got into a comma. I will be present later at your eulogy. I don’t think that it will be the last chapter of your life though. With all the student writers that you have mentored, and that includes me, your philosophy will live on and be sustained to generations on end.
A few weeks ago at the Doy Del Mundo Screenwriting Workshop, I moved the room after reading my exercise on "write a letter to a person you will never get to see or talk to anymore". I wrote a letter to my eight month still born son. I thought about writing to Charley but decided to be more personal as instructed. And now, I write a letter to you, still at the exercise.
How can I forget you when at the age of fifteen, at the top of my hopes and dreams of being a writer of the world, I sat on your workshops bleeding words, my pen punctured into my heart as you Kill my characters and storylines for their stupidity, silliness and lack of relevance. To write is to fight against oppression. That's the wisdom I shall never forget.
Goodbye Sir Rene! Thank you for sharing your life and wisdom with me. Hugs to you and kisses to Charley. Love Always, Jenny
