Disconnections

How could a country ever bet on globalization if their sons and daughters couldn't even stand up when they hear the national anthem. While reading books on how the world became flat again and magazines on search engine optimizing, i am taken a step farther away from the reality of the first worlds. India wouldn't be the outsourcing mecca for nothing.

Evidently, while these call center agents pretend to be Americans with impeccable accents on the calling floors, these youngsters are very much rooted in their own culture. They are challenged to be challenged. There lies to disconnection.

In the offices of Ortigas, how many agents actually are proud to be the best of the breed? How many agents truly understand why they are awake at night and asleep by day? How many of these young highly paid agents bring home part of their pay to their parents?

Maybe I am the one disconnected and finding solace in this blog. I have to leave the floor. The next shift will be up and about tackling the campaign for the night. Meanwhile, I better go and look for some smokes.
